Uganda Wildlife
We take pride in the assurance that once you you’re here, you’ll have the opportunity to see all the big five i.e., the lion, the leopard, the elephant, the buffalo and the rhino. Our clientele has always appreciated what they’ve been able to see while here.
Our ten national parks, wildlife reserves and natural protected areas coupled with the tropical climate make Uganda an ultimate breeding ground and habitat for wild game. The culture of the Ugandan people has also played a vital role in the preservation of wild game through totems. A considerable number of tribes here in Uganda have totems which are basically animals or birds that are held with high regard by a certain group of people because of their significance or previous experience with them. It therefore becomes a taboo for anyone who is a member of that group to eat or kill such an animal (his totem). It actually becomes his due responsibility to conserve that animal or bird in the wild or wherever it is.
Different animals prefer different parts of the country to others although many too can be found in virtually all national parks or game reserves. In the west and south-western part of the country search to see lions, leopards, the Rothschild giraffe, warthogs, elephants, monkeys, water bucks, antelopes, buffaloes and many more.
In the north and the north-western part of the country, you’ll love the sights of the Rothschild giraffes, prides of lions, plenty of elephants, herds of buffaloes, antelopes, kobs, waterbucks, chimpanzees, monkeys, leopards among others. Yeah, I’ve not mentioned the rhinos. The threat of extinction that faces rhinos is of such a serious nature that the government decided to put the rhinos in their own highly secured habitat popularly known as Zziwa rhino sanctuary. This is the only place you’ll have the best opportunity of seeing the rhinos at such close range than you would anywhere else. Uganda is one of the very few places in the world where the endangered white rhinos can be found. That’s how we endeavour to build experiences that stay; and memories of a lifetime!
